Job Summary Juvenile Court Services is seeking a licensed professional social worker to serve as a Juvenile Court Services Specialist under the direction of the Juvenile Court Services Coordinator.
Essential Functions
Interview and link children, adolescents, and families involved in the child welfare and delinquency system to appropriate community-based resources and provide case coordination services.
Conduct assessments and develop service plans.
Accompany families to juvenile court and testify when necessary.
Facilitate emergency petitions and acute psychiatric admissions as needed.
Complete case documentation and written court reports.
Facilitate specialized groups for youth and parents.
Assist with special projects and initiatives.
Provide direct supervision for social work interns and staff when directed.
Complete other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree in social work (LMSW). LCSW required from the Maryland State Board of Social Work examiners within six months of hire.
Experience:
Three years of direct counseling services, facilitating groups, supervising staff and college students; two years of program development and case coordination services; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and exercise discretion in complex situations.
Equivalency:
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered; non‑supervisory experience or education is not an acceptable substitution for required supervisory experience.
Additional Information Background check and fingerprint screening required for positions of trust. All selected candidates must complete a 6‑month mandatory probationary period.
