Speech Language Pathologist - The Woodlands/ENT
UTHealth Houston ENT Clinic in The Woodlands is hiring a Speech Pathologist to join their team. This position supports the expansion of the existing clinic and the new faculty, with a focus on advancing voice, swallowing, and airway-focused outpatient services. The ideal candidate has experience or specialized training in outpatient care for voice, swallowing, and airway disorders and will contribute to the growth and excellence of the program.
Position Summary:
Provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of patients with voice, airway, and swallowing problems. Primarily treats adult patients, with selective pediatric patients in a tertiary academic medical center.
Position Key Accountabilities
Performs clinical evaluation of voice, airway, and swallowing pathology considering educational, medical, social, and psychological factors to identify therapy needs.
Evaluates special populations, including professional voice users/performers, patients with neurological disorders, head & neck cancer patients, and select pediatric patients with voice/airway/swallowing pathology.
Performs diagnostic laryngeal imaging examinations (flexible and rigid videostroboscopy) and acoustic/aerodynamic assessments of voice/airway function.
Conducts instrumental swallowing assessments, including FEES and MBSS.
Plans and conducts rehabilitative treatment programs and maintains competency in up-to-date physiologic voice and dysphagia therapy skills.
Coordinates pre- and post-operative therapy for patients undergoing surgery for voice, airway, and swallowing pathology, including referrals to specific specialists and imaging as needed.
Performs outpatient therapy sessions (in person or virtual) and documents diagnostic findings, therapy used, and progress.
May provide clinical coordination for speech therapy-related programs as required by department needs.
May recruit subjects for research programs and participate in department research projects as applicable.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills
Speech-Language Pathologist by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) required
Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) by ASHA required
Minimum Education Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology required
Minimum Experience Completion of a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) covering the clinical domains of voice, airway, and swallowing pathology preferred. Experience as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary laryngology treatment team preferred.
Physical Requirements Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
Residency Requirement Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
