Licensure / Credential Must hold RCIS (Reg Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) or ARRT-R Radiography or imaging credential.

Education A minimum of an associate degree from an accredited institution; OR 2 years of cath lab experience in lieu of degree.

Shift / Schedule 7:00 am – 5:30 pm | Full Time | Day Shift | 4/10’s rotating weekday off; Call: 8–9 days of call with 1 weekend/month.

Types of Cases Heart Catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, structural heart, vascular. 15‑25 cases per day.

Job Summary The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist, under general supervision, assists Physicians during catheterization / electrophysiology lab procedures. Prepares room and equipment, instructs patients, monitors patient’s condition and provides routine and emergency patient care during procedures. Contributes to the orientation and training of other personnel. Assist in daily, monthly, and/or quarterly quality control initiatives through auditing and reporting.

Essential Functions of the Role

Assists Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, implantable cardiac defibrillators, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.

Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self, and staff.

Provides emergency procedures (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.

Performs pre‑ and post‑procedure care and monitoring.

Orients patients for catheterization or electrophysiology procedures and answers related questions.

Monitors ECG, pressures, temperature and impedances while in the electrophysiology lab; notifies physician of variances.

Assists in running RF/Cryo ablation systems, 3D mapping, and records procedural documentation.

Manages and maintains images that may include stenosis analysis, formatting, and processing on both cardiac and peripheral cases.

Assists in procedure rooms and collects registry and quality data on appropriate forms.

Prepares and maintains sterile fields for lab procedures; orders and maintains inventory of procedure room supplies.

Coordinates and/or audits resources during yearly inventories.

Performs routine calibration and maintenance of complex equipment; notifies appropriate personnel for repairs.

Assists in the orientation and training of new staff and students or extra duties as determined by supervisor/manager.

Oversees quality control monitoring such as NPSG auditing, turnaround times, performance improvement initiatives.

Participates in shared governance, departmental or hospital committees, professional organizations, or other leadership opportunities.

Transports patients to and from procedural area and demonstrates good customer service skills.

Qualifications

Education: Associate’s degree or two years of work experience above the minimum qualification.

Experience: Less than 1 year of experience.

Certification/License/Registration: ACLS within 30 days of hire/transfer; BLS within 30 days of hire/transfer.

Must meet one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) and MRT through TX Medical Board, RCIS, Resume Cardiac Electro Spec (RCES), CEPS, or CCDS.
