Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist for a 13‑week travel assignment in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. Required Qualifications
Valid Speech Language Pathologist License in compliance with state regulations
Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC)
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher in Speech Language Pathology
Current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech‑Language Pathology
Speech Language Pathology experience, but new graduates are welcome to apply
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position
Summary of Role The Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) evaluates, diagnoses, and treats communication and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages. Working in a variety of settings, the SLP develops individualized treatment plans to enhance speech, language, and cognitive‑communication abilities, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams and caregivers to improve outcomes.
Essential Work Functions
Utilize standardized assessments and clinical observations to evaluate speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population.
Design personalized therapy programs based on evaluation findings, patient goals, and evidence‑based practices.
Continuously assess patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain detailed, accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.
Educate patients, families, and caregivers on effective communication strategies, home‑based exercises, and safe swallowing practices.
Coordinate care with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
Maintain a safe treatment environment by adhering to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards.
Engage in quality assurance initiatives and professional development activities to remain current with best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency in PC skills.
Physical abilities: remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel and maintain a positive attitude.
Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, and assist with procedures or equipment.
Mental requirements: manage frequent public contact, meet deadlines under pressure, work under supervision or independently, handle irregular schedules, and maintain concentration to detail.
Sensory requirements: possess visual acuity and effective communication.
