6 Points Sports Academy is located in beautiful Asheville, NC on the state‑of‑the‑art athletic and camp facilities of Asheville School – which is widely regarded as the most beautiful boarding overnight camp facilities in the Southern part of the United States. We are so proud of our growth – we opened in 2010 with 60 campers, and in summer 2025 we welcomed 850 campers to our facility to assist them in reaching their goals of becoming better athletes, Jews, and humans. At 6 Points, athletes from 37 different states and 8 different countries participate in a unique camping experience that offers top‑level sports coaching and all the beloved traditions of overnight camping. Within our kind and nurturing community, campers form friendships for life while feeding their passion for their chosen sport – and achieve a higher quality of life as young Jewish athletes. 6 Points campers are entering 4th‑11th grade girls and boys who are looking to improve their skill level, meet new friends and explore their own Jewish identity (coaches do not need to be Jewish to work at camp). During each day of our two‑week long session, campers participate in 4 hours of intensive skill development in one chosen sport (their sports major) and 2 hours of electives. Our coaching staff is comprised of enthusiastic and competent professionals who are deeply committed to their sport and to the athletes that they coach.
Qualifications
Must be a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse, currently licensed.
Experience in pediatric, camp or school nursing preferred.
Responsibilities
Plan for and supervise health and safety of camp community.
In medical matters, provide local expertise or refer matter to camp physician or visiting physician.
Follow standing orders of camp physician or visiting physician.
Keep and maintain all health records in good order, updating them as needed. Keep a permanent log of evaluations in CampMinder immediately after treatments.
With Camp Administrator, supervise financial matters relating to the health center, including insurance claims and billings to parents.
Contact parents when necessary regarding the health of their children. Must communicate to the counselors and Unit Heads about medical decisions influencing their campers.
Schedule and supervise dispensing of regular medications and operation of a twice‑daily sick call.
With Camp Director or Assistant Director, conduct regular inspections of camp grounds and facilities for potential health or sanitation problems.
Be on call at specific times of the day.
Dates
Session 1: June 14 – June 28
Session 2: June 28 – July 12
Session 3: July 12 – July 26
Nurse can elect to work 1, 2, or all 3 sessions.
Travel
Travel is reimbursed up to $350 for flights or gas to get to and from camp.
Room and Board
Dormitory housing is provided as well as all three meals in the campus dining hall.
Salary
Salaries start at $2600–2800 per session.
