Overview The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is a non-profit Tribal health organization serving Alaska Native and American Indian people. ANTHC provides comprehensive medical services at the Alaska Native Medical Center, wellness programs, disease research and prevention, rural provider training, and related health services. Responsibilities

Works closely with clinical organizations as liaison between clinical users and information systems departments, serving as the primary Clinical Information IT resource in documentation, implementation, design, build, support, training and maintenance of ANMC clinical applications/Electronic Health Record (EHR).

Collaborates with clinical and business departments to recommend IT systems that enhance revenue and improve reporting compliance; participates in software selection and identifies functional requirements.

Coordinates with clinicians and vendors to ensure continuous software improvements and development to meet clinical needs; supports process improvement initiatives in clinical and information management areas.

Assists with change management and communication related to EHR and IT projects; identifies workflow changes needed for system changes or ongoing process improvements.

Assists customers in identifying and resolving problems with clinical applications/EHR; ensures final resolution and communicates outcomes to the reporter with longer-term solutions when appropriate.

Provides consultative services to customers and development teams on workflow processes and technological solutions; maintains status updates and facilitates two-way communication between HIT and Clinical Operations.

Acts as a point of contact for client inquiries and complaints related to clinical application support.

Assists in testing new system applications/upgrades/changes and other special assignments as directed.

Utilizes HIT department requirements regarding ITIL principles and processes.

Supporting end users requires 24/7 coverage and call rotation as part of the workload.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of TJC, HIPAA, CMS and other regulatory requirements.

Knowledge of patient care activities and how hospital/outpatient environments interact with services and functions.

Knowledge of clinical information systems development and/or implementation.

Knowledge of current trends in clinical practice and information systems; skill applying that knowledge.

Knowledge of and training in Electronic Health Records.

Skill in managing multiple projects concurrently; strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Skill in maintaining confidentiality and in communicating technical and user needs clearly.

Skill in training users in specialized software applications; data collection and analysis capabilities.

Skill in understanding medical records procedures and protocols; ability to establish cooperative working relationships.

Effective verbal and written communication; ability to facilitate meetings and bring teams together.

Minimum Education Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy or another clinical field. Clinical practice work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.

Experience Qualifications Non-supervisory – Five (5) years of professional clinical practice, including a minimum of two (2) years of application support in a hospital or clinic setting. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

Licensure Qualifications Current professional clinical licensure required.

Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Medical Informatics is preferred.

Additional Requirements

May be called out to work off-shift in emergency situations.

Depending on organizational needs, some incumbents may be required to obtain specific technical certifications.
