Overview: The Pathology Laboratory, part of Local Deliver Translational Science (LDTS), is responsible for developing, validating, and performing investigative pathology-based methods. These methods help pathologists and scientists characterize compound-induced effects related to target organ injury in animal and human tissues, study animal models of disease, develop target engagement endpoints, characterize local drug biodistribution, and address key questions that advance drug discovery and development for eyecare, aesthetics, and botulinum toxin projects.
The Pathology Associate II in the LDTS lab at Irvine, California, performs routine histology, ocular histology, and related tasks to support non-clinical safety and research studies. They work closely with Pathologists and colleagues to coordinate schedules, maintain lab equipment, order supplies, ship and receive samples, and may assist with specialized histology tasks such as IHC and special stains.
This individual will contribute to the successful completion of safety and investigative studies, working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. They should be detail-oriented, eager to learn, and able to interact effectively with scientists across departments.
Responsibilities:
Perform routine histology and specialized ocular histology tasks
Contribute to histology and IHC lab operations, including purchasing supplies and ensuring safety compliance
Stay current with histology technologies
Perform special staining or IHC as needed
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree + 2-4 years, MS + 1-2 years’ experience, or equivalent
Experience with routine histology procedures
Experience operating histology equipment
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Ability to lift 40 lbs
HT or HTL Certification preferred
Preferred Experience:
Pharmaceutical or related industry experience
Ocular histology
IHC with automation systems (Ventana, Bond RX)
Digital pathology with whole slide imaging
