The Respiratory Pediatric Critical Care Specialist performs respiratory care procedures associated with complex pediatric critically-ill patients and advanced pediatric critical care modalities, in Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care settings. This specialist works independently and within a multidisciplinary team, supporting evidence-based practice through patient care protocols. They provide advanced respiratory care modalities and therapeutic interventions, develop patient care plans focused on disease management of critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients, and interact with staff, patients, and families. They initiate and maintain appropriate therapy, including life support techniques and equipment. Minimum competency in all applicable advanced clinical skills must be obtained. Adheres to AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable regulations. Responsibilities
Assessment, stabilization, and treatment of neonates/pediatric patients according to policies, procedures and protocols for respiratory services at AdventHealth Tampa. Perform hemodynamic procedures including arterial lines, pulmonary artery catheter support, arterial/venous cannulation under supervision or independently after competency. Initiate process improvements, assist with clinical instruction and orientee staff precepting, and serve as a resource for pediatric emergency department respiratory patients. Support hospital/department mission, goals, and metrics. Practice standard precautions and enforce safety regulations. Document and charge procedures accurately to meet departmental and hospital quality standards. Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Care program required by NBRC. AAS or AS degree required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) required. Minimum of two years neonatal and/or pediatric critical care clinical experience in an acute care setting required. Current Florida State License as an RRT and current NBRC RRT Credential. NBRC Neonatal Pediatric Specialist credential required to obtain within 6 months of employment. American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required; NRP certification required.
