Overview

Certified Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech) PRN position – Shelbyville, Tennessee. Join Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Surgical Services team as a Certified Surgical Technologist who scrubs and/or assists during surgical procedures. This unlicensed member of the surgical team works under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, providing direct and indirect patient care for patients from pediatric to geriatric populations by preparing the patient and environment for surgical procedures. The Certified Surgical Technologist follows the surgeon's routine and preferences. Schedule Overview

PRN role – approx. 10 hours/week 10-hour shifts, typically 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM CST No mandatory call, but ideally available for up to 3 call shifts every 6 weeks Optional extra shifts available Call response time: 1 hour Key Responsibilities

Prepares rooms with appropriate instruments, sutures, supplies and equipment. Assists the surgical team during operative procedures. Opens sterile supplies and sets up for procedures. Cleans and prepares rooms between procedures and after terminal cleaning. Monitors and restocks supplies. Drapes patients for surgical procedures. Maintains and cares for equipment and supplies. Documents maintenance and repairs. Maintains department records, reports, and files as required. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs. Consistently provides accurate and complete hand-off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy. Qualifications

Certifications:

Certified Surgical Technologist (NBSTSA); Tech in Surgery TS-C (NCCT) Work Experience:
