This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until December 31, 2025. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be October 23, 2025, with subsequent cut-off dates every two weeks. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis until positions are filled. Qualifications
Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy English Language Proficiency: DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) - and 7407(d) Certification: All applicants must be certified in general radiographic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology - Radiography (ARRT) (R) Advanced ARRT certification is required for assignments that include computed tomography (CT) - magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) - or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable Advanced certification indicates that the incumbent can operate independently and has demonstrated specific clinical competency in the appropriate specialty and passed the designated examination Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or other recognized accrediting bodies Credentialing Standards: Public Law 97-35 - the Consumer-Patient Radiation Health and Safety Act of 1981 - requires credentialing standards in 42 CFR Part 75 Loss of Credential: Failure to maintain required certification may result in removal from the occupation or termination of employment Duties and Responsibilities
Perform computed tomography (CT) examinations on all body regions, including complex procedures with multiplanar reformations, 3D reconstructions, MIP, and CT angiography Perform magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) examinations on all body regions, including complex procedures with reconstructive imaging and angiography Perform general diagnostic radiography for all body regions, including bone-length examinations and bone surveys Operate radiographic equipment under the direction of radiologists and other medical officers to produce diagnostic studies Prepare and administer contrast media and medications in accordance with State and Federal regulations Maintain knowledge of computerized radiography (CR/DR) and PACS Meet modality-specific requirements and demonstrate competencies at the assigned grade level Work schedules may include evenings, nights, weekends, and off-tour shifts to provide 24/7 coverage as needed Experience and Grade
GS-10: At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level and demonstrated clinical competencies for Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-8; the actual grade at which an applicant may be selected is GS-10 Physical and Other Requirements
