NEEDED: Dental Assistant
LOCATION: 8730 Scroggs Road, Lisbon, Ohio 44432
SCHEDULE: 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS
US Citizen
Shall possess specialty training from a licensed dentist and/or certification from an accredited Dental Assistant school.
Training must include dental radiology and radiology safety.
Shall be certified in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
Must have a minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience providing Dental Assistant services.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
Shall provide a detailed resume with dates of employment.
A copy of your educational diplomas or certifications.
Copy of current CPR certificates or statement of willingness to obtain one prior to hire date.
JOB DUTIES
Abides by FCI Elkton’s infection control policies.
Provides prevention duties and chairside assistance to the dentist.
Cleans, polishes and/or oils equipment according to manufacturers or biomedical recommendations.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments, using autoclave techniques.
Prepares sterile trays, packs, sutures, etc.
Maintains a number of recurring reports, including those concerning materials and equipment.
Properly stores and maintains adequate supplies in the dental clinic.
Requisitions dental laboratory work.
Greets, receives and prepares patients for treatment.
Lays out instruments and materials needed for treatment.
Provides chair-side assistance during oral examination and restorative treatments.
Passes instruments and materials to and retrieves them from the dentist.
Operates oral evacuator and suction tip to keep area of operation clear.
Retracts tissue, cheek and tongue.
Scans dental treatment plans into Bureau’s Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
Relays post-treatment instructions to the patient from dentist.
Completes radiographs, marks them with identifying information and upload them into the inmate’s BEMR file.
Uses lead aprons and shields as protection against radiation.
Other job-related responsibilities required for a dental assistant.
