Job Description Summary UofL Health is a fully integrated regional academic health system focused on delivering patient-centered care to each patient every day.
Essential Functions
Obtain medical history, triage patients, record vitals.
Reconcile medication list in the electronic health record.
Respond promptly and appropriately to tasks.
Give injections per physician order, including Hepatitis A & B, PPD, and flu vaccine.
Report any abnormal results to the physician immediately (e.g., labs).
Schedule tests and procedures per physician orders.
Maintain clean exam rooms.
Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Adhere to organizational policy and procedure.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of the health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to family & geriatric medical practice.
Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
Skill in interpersonal interactions with diplomacy and integrity.
Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring when dealing with others.
Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete delegated tasks.
Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring dealing with others.
Education & Certifications
High school diploma or GED.
Medical assistant certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., CMA, CCMA, RMA) required.
Medical assisting degree preferred.
CCMA certification.
BLS certification.
CMA certification preferred.
