Responsibilities
Serves on a classification team; evaluates the offender’s institutional adjustment and release plans, prepares and makes recommendations relative to ORAS & case planning assignments, facility transfers, and disciplinary actions.
Secures and verifies information from incarcerated adult offenders concerning home life, family relationships, work history, and other pertinent personal and social factors; develops, maintains, and reviews classification files.
Assesses classification status and prepares analysis for program eligibility determinations using the Adult Internal Classification System (AICS), Reclassification Analysis (RCA), and Initial Classification Analysis (ICA) instruments.
Acts as grievance officer; processes informal resolution requests (IRRs), holds disciplinary hearings on conduct violations, and participates in treatment team meetings.
Processes offenders: completes initial file review, protective custody assessment, enters enemy waivers, and updates enemy lists.
Maintains an open‑door office policy; handles offender laundry/property/financial concerns, mail and censorship notices, and notifies offenders of critical illness or death of immediate family members.
Participates in assigned offender’s vocational, educational, and social adjustment planning; facilitates offender programs; evaluates civilian visiting applications and determines acceptance; provides pre‑release counseling; researches and identifies community resources/services prior to release processing.
Cooperates with public/private agencies and law enforcement in matters relating to assigned offenders, arranging and facilitating calls to attorneys, public agencies, and law enforcement.
Performs work in accordance with established rules and regulations; receives close administrative direction and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant (or above) within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Or four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health, substance use, public/business administration, or closely related fields.
Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year‑for‑year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.
All requested documents must be received by the closing date listed.
Compensation
$2.00 per hour shift differential for shifts beginning between 12:00 pm and 5:00 am at a 24/7 congregate care facility.
$0.75 per hour maximum security stipend for full‑time work at a qualifying facility.
$1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for assignments within a restricted housing/segregation unit.
Additional benefits include a guaranteed 1 % pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years.
