MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST - ACUTE LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR (LMHC) Responsibilities
Develop comprehensive biopsychosocial assessment and clinical impressions responsive to age-appropriate patients/family needs and concerns. Differential diagnosis of mental/emotional disorders using the DSM. Diagnose biopsychosocial functioning, disability, and impairment for the patient/family. Develop treatment intervention plans that are diagnostically driven and outcomes-focused with the patient/family and healthcare team. Establish an effective working relationship with patient/family to engage, collaborate, advocate and problem solve to support mental health strengths and functioning. Utilize differential diagnostic skills and employ interventions including crisis intervention, solution-focused therapy, individual/couple/family/group psychotherapy, grief/bereavement counseling, play therapy, sand tray therapy, EMDR, CBT, and mental status exams. Initiate Baker Act when appropriate and facilitate Marchman Act when indicated. Support psychosocial adjustment along the continuum of care and transition to the next level of care. Provide mental health education, information, consultation, and professional support to the healthcare team and colleagues. Demonstrate initiative and leadership in developing mental health services to meet patient care demands. Maintain up-to-date, accurate records of mental health activities in the patient’s medical chart, in a manner that respects confidentiality. Meet department/hospital growth goals set forth by coaching plans and perform independently in a health care setting. Supervise and participate in teaching within the department, hospital, and community as appropriate. Care coordination responsibilities as appropriate for the patient population. Subspecialty credentialing (e.g., sexual abuse, EMDR, CAP, CBT) may be required for the clinical setting where appropriate. Maintain regular, punctual attendance per Orlando Health policies and applicable laws; comply with all policies and procedures. Education/Training
Master’s degree from an accredited school of Social Work, Mental Health, Psychology or Marriage and Family Therapy or related field is required. Licensure/Certification
Florida state licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Chapter 491 Florida Statutes). Handle with Care (HWC) Certification required for Behavioral Health Unit. Experience
Two (2) years of direct clinical experience preferred in a health or mental health setting with emphasis on the population to be served in the assigned area. Employment details
