Overview
Certified Nurse Midwife – Full-Time
Kernodle Clinic OB/GYN Department in Burlington, NC (Kernodle Clinic, a multi-specialty group with locations in Burlington, Mebane, and Elon) is seeking a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) to join a busy OB/GYN department. Kernodle Clinic includes nearly 100 physicians and advanced practice providers and offers a collaborative environment with rewarding career opportunities.
Located off I-40/I-85, Burlington provides a balance of small-town charm and access to nearby metros including Greensboro, Raleigh, and Durham. CNMs provide a comprehensive range of primary health services across the lifespan, including primary care, gynecology, family planning, preconception counseling, prenatal care, labor and delivery support, postpartum care, and newborn care during the first 28 days. CNMs may also provide treatment for male partners with sexually transmitted infections (per ACNM guidelines).
This full-time position includes up to four days in the office and 6–9 call shifts (24-hour) per month. OB/GYN experience is preferred, but new graduates eager to grow within a supportive team are welcome.
All candidates must be graduates of an accredited nurse-midwifery program and hold current CNM certification and North Carolina licensure (or eligibility). Candidates are expected to demonstrate the highest level of professional judgment in accordance with NC Board of Nursing standards. Current BLS certification is also required.
Responsibilities
CNMs provide initial and ongoing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and treatment, perform physical exams, and prescribe medications (including controlled substances).
Rotate assigned hospital call, perform postpartum rounds in the morning, complete birthplace assessments, and admit/discharge patients as appropriate.
Administer and prescribe medications in compliance with the DEA and NC Board of Nursing for Advanced Practice Nurses (Category 2-7 drugs).
Provide patient health education; address questions or concerns regarding medications, disease processes, and outcomes.
Comply with OSHA, infection control, and safety policies, including PPE use, handling of infectious waste, and responding to emergencies; adhere to JCAHO standards.
Consult with MD as necessary regarding patient issues and plans of care.
Order and schedule laboratory and diagnostic tests and follow up on abnormal results.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nurse-midwifery program with CNM certification and NC licensure (or eligibility).
Current BLS certification.
Ability to demonstrate high level of professional judgment in line with NC Board of Nursing standards.
OB/GYN experience preferred; new graduates welcome in a supportive team.
