$49,431.00/yr - $88,161.00/yr . This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval and award amounts are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Summary

Applicants may be referred and tentatively selected while education/certification/licensure requirements are being completed; final hire is contingent on meeting all requirements. Responsibilities

Independently performs routine radiographic examinations (head, trunk, extremities) and assists radiologists with invasive procedures (e.g., myelograms, arthrograms) and fluoroscopic procedures (e.g., GI series, barium enemas), ensuring sterile techniques and safety protocols like time-out procedures. Operates imaging equipment (general diagnostic, fluoroscopy, portable, C-arm) in diverse settings; maximizes room/equipment utilization; reports equipment failures. Determines and adjusts technical factors for proper exposure; sets up accessory equipment; performs exposures safely to obtain high-quality images. Identifies patients, verifies information, reconciles medications, prepares and administers contrast materials under radiologist direction, transports patients, and practices radiation safety (ALARA, shielding, film badges). Operates ancillary equipment (e.g., oxygen tanks, vital sign monitors); may monitor vital signs, recognize reactions, and initiate emergency measures including CPR/AED. Uses VISTA/CPRS for patient information; performs timely case editing; ensures image transfer to Vista and PACS; follows contingency policies during system downtime. Mentors radiology students on positioning, technical factors, equipment, shielding, and customer service; develops and presents educational in-services and recommends field advancements. Performs team leader and Quality Assurance duties as assigned; may travel within NF/SG Diagnostic Imaging Service for training or addressing technologist shortages. Works in a well-lit, ventilated area with radiation safety precautions; role involves prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting light items, and occasional assisting with patient lifting. Work schedule: Wednesday - Saturday 10:30am - 9:00pm with assigned on-call/call-back rotation including holidays. Basic Requirements

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy Certification All applicants must be certified in general radiologic technology by ARRT - Radiography (R) Advanced ARRT certification is required for CT, MRI, or Mammography duties performed independently, as applicable Advanced certification indicates the incumbent can operate independently and has demonstrated clinical competency in the appropriate specialty Where applicable, on-the-job training may be provided for those lacking advanced certification Education: Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by JRCERT or other DOE-recognized accrediting agencies English Language Proficiency: DRTs must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d) Physical Requirements: See VA Directive and Handbook 5019 Grade Determinations: GS-5 to GS-8 criteria with specified Experience/Education, KSAs and demonstration of clinical competencies Other qualifications and knowledge requirements as listed in the standard Reference: For more information on this qualification standard, please visit https://www.va.gov/ohrm/QualificationStandards/ The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-8; actual grade may be GS-5 to GS-8 based on experience Job Details
