Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at
Eastside Pet Clinic
are designed for clinical-year students. Veterinary students in the
clinical portion
of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
