Position Overview Fabick Cat is seeking a hands‑on Oil Lab Supervisor to lead the daily operations of our Scheduled Oil Sampling (SOS) lab in Green Bay, WI. This individual will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate testing of oil samples, managing lab personnel, and maintaining strict adherence to Caterpillar standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations. The role also plays a key part in supporting customer value agreements (CVAs), expanding lab services, and developing internal talent to support Fabick Cat’s long‑term service excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee day‑to‑day activities in the Green Bay SOS Lab, ensuring high‑quality oil analysis that meets or exceeds Caterpillar’s diagnostic standards.

Lead, train, and support a team of laboratory technicians and analysts; ensure proper staffing coverage and promote continuous development.

Interpret test data (e.g., viscosity, contamination levels, wear metals, TBN/TAN) and provide actionable insights to Fabick Cat service teams and customers.

Work closely with Product Support leadership to hire, train, and retain lab team members.

Ensure lab instruments are properly calibrated, maintained, and repaired as needed.

Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with Caterpillar’s oil analysis requirements.

Perform and monitor routine Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks and schedule external service as necessary.

Enforce safety standards, chemical handling procedures, and environmental compliance in accordance with Fabick Cat policies and regulatory guidelines.

Partner with Product Support Sales Management to grow the SOS program across Fabick Cat’s territory by promoting oil sampling to customers as part of E‑Solutions and CVA offerings.

Drive increased SOS sample volume and engagement through targeted outreach and operational enhancements.

Identify opportunities to expand lab services, increase profitability, and grow incremental parts and service sales driven by oil analysis results.

Maintain clean, organized lab spaces that reflect Fabick Cat’s commitment to quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

Support the use of LabWare LIMS for data entry, sample tracking, and reporting.

Provide backup oil interpretation support when needed (e.g., during staffing transitions or absences). Stay available for consultative support as required to ensure lab success during leadership transitions or retirements.

Required Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science)

5+ years of hands‑on laboratory experience

3+ years of team leadership, supervisory, or mentorship experience

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis tools

Experience working with lab equipment and following safety protocols

Familiarity with interpreting test data and documenting findings

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or related field (strongly preferred for meeting Caterpillar SOS compliance)

Experience in oil analysis, lubrication testing, or fluids diagnostics

Background in Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC)

Experience writing, implementing, or improving SOPs

Familiarity with Lab Information Management Systems (e.g., LabWare)

Experience working in ISO‑certified labs or environments subject to regulatory audits

Background in preventative maintenance scheduling and light equipment repairs

Prior industry experience in food testing labs, dairy labs, or environmental testing facilities.

Ideal candidates may come from direct machinery industry, food testing labs, dairy production labs, or industrial QA environments.

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Proficient at spreadsheets and data analysis tools.

Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to laboratory operations.
