Wellstar Health System . Work in a growing Cath Lab on the Magnet Designated Wellstar Paulding campus. Functions under the direction of the Cath_EP Lab manager/Director. The cardiovascular technologist II assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing cardiovascular cath and/or electrophysiology procedures according to department procedures. The technologist has the knowledge and ability to obtain a quality diagnostic study properly and safely. The cardiovascular technologist II maintains sterile technique during procedures and supports a safe and efficient environment for adults and geriatric patients. Minimum 1 year of experience performing invasive cardiovascular procedures or graduate of a CVT program. Participates in the cath or EP call rotation. Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions
Clinical Skills: Completion of cardiovascular cath and/or EP competencies May function in monitoring, scrubbing, or circulating roles Able to use critical thinking skills Work with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and cardiologists Preps and educates the patient for procedure Demonstrates and understands sterile technique Job Responsibilities
Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs Able to work scheduled and cath lab On-Call hours Knows lines of communication and authority; handles communications properly Introduces self to patient using proper scripting (AIDET) Transports patients as needed; provides privacy and comfort Maintains departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations, and performance Improvement Enters data into cath lab log and verifies accuracy Completes necessary paperwork; answers departmental phone with proper scripting Maintains stock levels and manages outdates Maintains current License and BLS/ACLS certifications Works as a team with cath_EP lab staff to obtain the best outcome Performs other duties as needed when asked by leadership Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedures Enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedure Quality and Patient Safety
Verifies patient ID using two identifiers Verifies chart accuracy and consent; seeks clarification if unclear Uses preprocedural verification/time-out form; follows site marking where indicated Patient Education
Responsible for patient and family education related to procedures and future care/transfer Provides post-procedural home care instructions as needed Required Minimum Education: Associates Health Science or Bachelors Health Science preferred, or Accredited Program Radiologic Science preferred. Required Minimum Licenses/Certifications: All certifications required upon hire unless stated otherwise. RCIS (Preferred); BLS (or BLS Instructor); ACLS (or ACLS Instructor). Additional Licenses/Certifications: RCIS – Registered CVI Specialist upon hire preferred. Required Minimum Experience: Minimum 1 year independent work in CV cath/EP lab or substitution with related education; minimum 1 year CV cath/EP lab experience may be substituted for formal education. Required Minimum Skills: Knowledge of CV cath/EP procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection; ECG interpretation and cardiac physiology knowledge preferred; ability to respond quickly to emergencies; strong teamwork and communication in English.
