Our Burlington brand is seeking to fill the position of
Research and Development Chemist , based at its manufacturing operation in Burlington, NC.
Job Overview The R&D Chemist will be responsible for managing R&D projects, including sampling, testing, measuring, recording, and analyzing results as part of a scientific team. The role involves hands-on experiments with chemistry equipment such as HPLC, GC, UV-Vis, FTIR, and mass spectrometry. The chemist will provide technical support to ensure laboratory effectiveness, adhering to proper procedures and safety guidelines. The position involves laboratory-based investigations across biological, chemical, and physical testing within a laboratory and manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry or a related field with a focus on analytical chemistry.
At least 3 years of experience working in a manufacturing laboratory using LC/MS, HPLC, GC/MS, UV-Vis, SEM, etc.
Understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry principles.
Experience developing chemical formulations under the guidance of a senior chemist or director.
Ability to apply chemicals and dye fabrics, and perform color assessments.
Attention to detail in paperwork, sample collection, and data development for marketing.
Proficiency in conducting complex analytical tests on fabric samples.
Experience testing processes, finished products, and raw materials to determine quality and characteristics.
Skills in maintaining and cleaning laboratory equipment.
Ability to recognize and report erroneous outcomes, ensuring sampling methodologies are controlled and documented.
Mathematical aptitude for calculations, graphs, and charts.
Detail-oriented and organized approach to laboratory duties.
Experience conducting textile tests according to ISO, AATCC, ASTM standards.
Ability to coordinate with suppliers and complete procedural documentation for experiments.
Prior experience in the textile industry is preferred.
