Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Dental Assistant within the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine, Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Under the direction of the Clinical Supervisor, the Dental Assistant will support the department by providing chairside and clinical assistance to the Department of Pediatric Dentistry and the Special Care Treatment Center. In addition, the Dental Assistant will assist Faculty, Postdoctoral, and Pre‑doctoral Dental Students during patient care in both divisions of the Pediatric Department. The candidate should be proficient in four‑handed dentistry and familiar with the necessary armamentarium to assist in the pediatric specialty. The Dental Assistant is also responsible for performing sterilization duties, assisting students with radiographs, and processing dental requisitions as assigned, along with other duties within the capacity of a Certified Dental Assistant. Additionally, the Dental Assistant monitors infection control in accordance with Rutgers University policy and performs miscellaneous tasks supporting various programs within the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Key Duties

Serves as a Certified Dental Assistant to assist Faculty, Postgraduate and Pre Doctoral students with patient care. Provides assistance for patients being treated with conscious sedation as assigned. Must be proficient in four‑handed dentistry. Prepares armamentarium for procedures with students/faculty as needed for patient care. Exposes, develops and assists with radiographs with students and for faculty as needed. Reports equipment malfunction or breakdown to Clinical Supervisor. Transports instruments to/from sterilization in accordance with schedule set forth by the dental school. Provides assistance to both clinics in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry including the Special Care Clinic. Maintains safe and clean working environment in the clinic and during patient care by adhering to RSDM infection control policy and departmental protocolli> Ensures patients are seen in a timely manner and maintains patient confidentiality.
