Medical Assistant-Rheumatology Full Time Days $2,000 Sign On Bonus Salary range: $18.98 – $24.68 per hour.

Sign‑on bonus: $2,000.

Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Two days at the Glenview clinic and three days at the Lake Forest campus. Schedule: Monday through Friday, start time between 7:00 am‑8:00 am (no weekends). The position will be permanently based in Glenview effective March 2026.

Description

The Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurses, and other licensed medical staff by facilitating efficient patient flow, assisting with patient care activities, and performing related administrative functions.

Responsibilities include ensuring efficient patient flow through the clinic; maintaining neat, clean, and safe care areas; promoting patient satisfaction; and safeguarding patient confidentiality.

• Escorts patients to exam rooms, identifies patients with two identifiers, and prepares them for examination. • Obtains accurate vital signs. • Documents reason for visit, updates allergies, smoking history, and pharmacy information. • Informs the provider and nurse of any significant change in vital signs or acute symptoms. • Anticipates/sets up equipment or supplies needed for the visit. • Cleans and prepares the exam room for the next patient. • Responds to needs to expedite visits and prioritize tasks.

Assists practitioners with medical and surgical procedures such as ECG, venipuncture, immunizations, setting up procedure trays, specimen collection, and CLIA‑waived testing.

Maintains high quality care by preparing and stocking exam rooms, participating in environmental safety rounds, maintaining vaccine/medication inventory, monitoring equipment, ordering supplies, and adhering to opening and closing procedures.

Promotes patient satisfaction by interacting professionally and friendlily, accepting delegated responsibilities, offering assistance to others, attending staff meetings, and communicating effectively with patients and staff.

Performs delegated specialty procedures safely and efficiently.

Performs all other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

Required: • Evidence of eligibility to take one of the five certification exams (AAMA, AMT, NCCT, NHA, NRCMA). • New MA graduates within 6 months of graduation must submit either a letter from the school or a letter from the certifying body; non‑certified MAs or new graduates beyond 6 months must submit a letter from the certifying body. • Within the first six months of employment, complete one of the following certifications (up to two attempts): Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) – American Medical Technologists (AMT)

National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) – National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)

Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) – National Healthcareer Association (NHA)

Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) – National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)

All Candidates/Incumbents: • High school diploma or GED. • American Heart Association accredited Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. • Signed acknowledgement during onboarding that certification must be attained within 6 months as a condition of employment. • Strong computer skills.

Preferred: • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program. • One to two years of ambulatory care experience. • Experience with electronic medical records.
