Location: Wasco State Prison (WSP), Wasco, CA (Kern County).
Pay Range Monthly part‑time salary range: $13,338.50 to $14,820.
Job Description & Duties Under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF), the Physician & Surgeon, CF (Internal Medicine/Family Practice [IM/FP]) provides medical care to patients in a correctional facility.
Responsibilities include:
Perform medical assessments and provide medical treatment to assigned patients as appropriate and as authorized by the medical license.
Provide clinical consultation to mid‑level providers and other staff.
Instruct nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols and adhere to professional medical standards of care.
Perform assigned on‑call duties.
Minimum Qualifications
Legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
Valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board; or admissibility to an internal medicine or family medicine specialty examination as evidenced by a written statement from the Secretary of the American Board of Family Medicine or the Secretary of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
