The community you’ll be caring for AdventHealth Tampa is a faith‑based not‑for‑profit 626‑bed tertiary‑level acute care hospital located in the uptown district of Tampa, Florida, specializing in advanced cardiovascular medicine, neuroscience and neurology, digestive health, orthopedics, women’s services, pediatrics, oncology, endocrinology, bariatrics, wound healing, sleep medicine and general surgery including minimally invasive and robot‑assisted procedures. GME programs on the campus currently include general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine and transitional year. AdventHealth Tampa is home to the renowned AdventHealth Pepin Heart Institute, a recognized leader in cardiovascular disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and leading‑edge research – caring for Tampa Bay’s hearts for over 35 years. The Kiran C. Patel Research Institute, also located at AdventHealth Tampa, leads the way in clinical and academic research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular medicine, advanced surgery and more – contributing valuable knowledge that leads to tomorrow’s cures for conditions such as heart failure, cancer and other diseases.

The role you’ll contribute The Advanced Paramedic III performs patient care under the direction of and as assigned by the Charge nurse, registered nurse and/or physician or their designee. Performs general clinical, non‑clinical and clerical services necessary to expedite the efficient functioning of the nursing unit consistent with the philosophy, goals, policies and procedures. Utilizes age‑specific competencies in the care of all patient populations. Adheres to the AdventHealth corporate compliance plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

The value you’ll bring to the team

Attaches and completes 12‑lead EKG tests before providing the strip to the physician on duty.

Initiates cardiac monitoring, detects dysrhythmias, and notifies the assigned nurse or charge nurse of abnormalities.

Performs venipuncture for testing and inserts peripheral IVs, hangs IV fluid without medication, and maintains prescribed IV flow rates.

Observes and documents the condition of infusion sites and removes IV lines as directed by a registered nurse.

Assists physician or registered nurse with procedures and exams.

Follows CDC isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of personal protective equipment, performs hand washing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.

Champions customer service by keeping patients informed, providing updates, and demonstrating caring and compassion.

Provides patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed

High school graduate or equivalent

1+ years of work experience

BLS Certified (Basic Life Support – CPR)

Licensed Paramedic (PARA)

ACLS Certified (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

PALS Certified (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
