Adjunct Faculty Job Description Summary: Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimal learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. They will be responsible for delivering quality instruction and actively participating in college affairs.
Under general supervision, this individual will prepare and teach nursing skills in various clinical settings. The faculty member must be capable of instructing a wide range of nursing concepts.
Duties/Functions: Teaching Prepare and teach departmental courses, including: Developing learner-centered lesson plans Employing teaching strategies and instructional materials tailored for different learning styles Incorporating current technology appropriately in classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments Creating and modeling a quality learning environment supporting a diverse student body Preparing, distributing, and utilizing instructional support materials such as syllabi, supplementary materials, media, etc. Conducting assessments of student learning outcomes in courses and programs as appropriate
Professional Development Maintain professional status supporting the instructional mission by: Participating in professional development activities to stay current in the field Maintaining necessary credentials or licensures as required Engaging in opportunities to improve teaching skills and strategies
Administration Oversee daily operations of facilities, equipment, and student records, including: Maintaining classroom and lab spaces and equipment Ensuring security and safety of facilities and materials Maintaining student records (grades, attendance) using technology (e.g., Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle) Complying with all applicable regulations
Student Support Foster an environment conducive to student success by: Addressing student concerns promptly Promoting retention and persistence strategies Referring students to campus and community resources Demonstrate and model the College's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.
Education Required: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution Unrestricted RN license in North Carolina Preparation in adult education principles, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, completed prior to or within three years of employment Education Preferred: Master's Degree in Nursing with a focus on Nursing Education from a regionally accredited institution KSA Required: The instructor should possess an understanding of and commitment to the role of community colleges, particularly in relation to nursing education and community engagement. #J-18808-Ljbffr
