Pharmacy Tech
to join our St. Anthony Community Clinic Pharmacy team. This position is part-time with benefits, 64 hours per pay period, day shift and every 4th weekend. Primary location is St. Anthony Community clinic but must have flexibility to work other HHS off-campus pharmacy locations as needed. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
$5000 Sign-On Bonus
A sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates. Current employees and former employees (rehired within 12 months) are not eligible. One year’s work commitment required.
Purpose of this position:
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community
Responsibilities
Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel
Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and other related policies
Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist
Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions
Prepares daily deposits for the cashier’s office
Bills and credits patient medications
Stocks inventory in Pharmacy
Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications
Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled
Files prescriptions and reports
Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion
Enters outpatient prescriptions
Obtains and records patient drug histories
Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate
Performs various calculations to determine the correct dose using weight
Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order
Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed
Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols
Maintains a working knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs
Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations
Is responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications
Assists with other duties as assigned but only after appropriate training
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GE
Preferred Qualifications:
Computer skills
Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems
Insurance and Billing Experience
Experience working with specialty medications in a health system setting
Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training Program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experienc

License/Certifications
Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board
PTCB or ExCPT pharmacy tech certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid for by employee
