Position Summary Banner University Medical Center, Phoenix is looking for a Clinical Exercise Physiologist Lead to join their Cath Lab team. This full‑time position is 40 hours per week, with four 10‑hour shifts Monday through Friday and one rotating weekend per month. Cardiac Rehab is a multidisciplinary program that supports heart and pulmonary patients through supervised exercise, education, and lifestyle guidance for inpatient and outpatient populations.

Core Functions
Meets internal and external client service expectations and promotes continuous improvement philosophy of the department and hospital. Demonstrates efficient and effective use of resources in meeting customer expectations and performing job responsibilities.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with all clients and resolves client concerns promptly and courteously. Maintains effective, courteous communication with medical, nursing, and technical personnel.
Implements individualized exercise plans that consider patients’ physical and age‑specific needs and abilities. Ensures that treatment plans are supported by standard practices and/or current literature. Re‑evaluates treatment plans as needed to ensure safety and maximum patient benefit.
Promotes and serves as a resource to the team for standardization of exercise testing, department protocols, and best practices. Maintains strong working relationships with physicians and provides specific recommendations and guidance.
Provides staff training in phase I, II, III, cardiac rehab, pulmonary rehab, and/or exercise testing. Ensures all training and orientation requirements are completed within the designated timeframe.
Coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety, and department standards, and serves as a resource for quality patient care and clinical competency.
Ensures efficient and cost‑effective use of department resources by coordinating appropriate supplies, resources, and staffing. Participates in continuous quality improvement to benefit patients and physicians.
Proactively identifies opportunities and presents them to the group in a positive format to obtain full cooperation from staff. Collaborates with leadership to meet growth goals of the department.
Performs all clinical functions and accurately reports results according to standard operating policies and procedures, meeting regulatory agency requirements.
Provides shift‑lead supervision to clinical staff. Works independently to provide excellent patient care. Internal customers include patients, staff, and physicians; external customers include patient families.
Complies with all ethical, legal and professional responsibilities. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
Minimum Qualifications
Requires a level of clinical knowledge normally obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in exercise/physiology or related field.
Four years’ experience in cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation and/or stress testing.
Minimum 600‑hour internship in outpatient cardiac and/or pulmonary rehabilitation.
Provides knowledge in cardiac/pulmonary physiology, management and treatment of chronic disease, health promotion, ECG and 12‑lead interpretation; basic knowledge of research ethics.
Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare providers.
Strong interpersonal communication and human relation skills.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field.
American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) clinical exercise physiologist (CEP) certification.
Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP).
One to three years’ experience in stress testing.
