Summary Under the general direction of the Provider Peer Review Supervisor, this position supports the Peer Review Program by utilizing hospital operational knowledge to administer the Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) Program, the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) Program, and coordination of reporting, auditing, and maintenance requirements.
Responsibilities
Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) activity: Supports the FPPE process on all new initial applicants, re‑applicants requesting additional clinical privileges, and for any provider in need of a triggered review; maintains FPPE reports in MD‑Staff and keeps an accurate up‑to‑date FPPE log for each provider.
Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) activity: Coordinates the policy process and execution of the OPPE program under the general supervision and guidance of the Provider Peer Review Supervisor; maintains OPPE reports in MD‑Stat, copies, distributes, and files OPPE reports and any pertinent OPPE paperwork in each provider’s credential file; follows up with medical staff leaders, medical staff services staff and providers to keep the OPPE process and documentation current and meet deadlines and reporting requirements.
Collaborates and coordinates with the Provider Peer Review Supervisor to support an effective and continuously improving provider peer review program; maintains information in a secure file for timely retrieval; prepares reports for any trends and for evaluation at the time of reappointment or when requested by Department Chair, Section Chief or Medical Staff Leaders; ensures timely communication of findings is made to providers.
Prepares for peer review meetings including scheduling, meeting reminders, agenda packets, and maintenance of meeting minutes; assures overall continuity of peer review activities.
Provides support services to the Provider Peer Review Supervisor in fulfilling the responsibilities of their position; provides clerical support related to filing, retrieval of information relevant to all aspects of the responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.
Meets department standards and turnaround times for volume of work processed and accuracy of data entered.
Education
High School Diploma or GED
Strong knowledge of clinical practice and/or hospital operations; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; credentialing database management
Preferred Education
Associate Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration
2‑3 years of experience in a healthcare setting; demonstrated expert level of experience with Midas, Microsoft Office, and ASM Product (MD‑Staff & MD‑Stat)
