Summary Under the direction of the Director of Inpatient Rehabilitation Services, the Rehabilitation Liaison performs off‑site preadmission screenings, promotes Brown University Health’s inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) services, and facilitates admission to the departments. Brown University Health employees are expected to role model the organization’s values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Responsibilities
Communicates clearly, respectfully, and honestly with patients, caregivers, and colleagues.
Coordinates admissions with rehabilitation unit leadership and resolves problems by serving as a liaison between referral sources and Brown University Health rehabilitation staff.
Promotes services to referring facilities, discharge planners, and third‑party payers, and provides educational programs for referral sources.
Considers age‑specific needs when screening referrals for IRF placement and screens all referrals for appropriate placement based on Medicare and other third‑party payers.
Obtains pre‑authorization for admission from third‑party payers as required.
Provides demographic data and referral statistics on screening information for trend analysis.
Demonstrates knowledge of UDS and IRF‑PAI to assure regulatory compliance and participates in departmental quality improvement activities.
Qualifications
Graduate from a school of nursing and licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.
BSN and certification in rehabilitation nursing desired.
Alternate credentials include license to practice Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology in Rhode Island.
Knowledge of utilization review process, health care reimbursement, and physical rehabilitation principles.
Pay Range
$33.53 – $55.31
