Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the educational programs for an appropriate nursing unit cluster, including community, orientation, and in‑service for professional development.
Participates in direct nursing care.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (unless otherwise approved by the Director)
Minimum 2 years experience in a hospital clinical setting.
Experience in Med/Surg (Medical, Surgical, Oncology, Ortho, SNF, and Out‑Pt Infusion), PCU and Med/Tele, Critical Care Unit, Women and Children (Mother/Baby, Perinatal and Neonatal ICU), Operating Room (OR).
Required Licenses / Certifications
American Heart Association Instructor certification (identifies the employee as both an Instructor and Provider).
Med/Surg, Med/Tele, PCU, CCU
– Registered Nurse, CPR‑BLS Certification, ACLS, NIH
Rehab
– Registered Nurse, CPR‑BLS Certification
Women and Children: Mother/Baby
– Registered Nurse, CPR‑BLS, ACLS, NRP
Perinatal
– Registered Nurse, CPR‑BLS, ACLS, NRP, NIHSS, ENPC and/or PALS prior to completion of unit orientation, TNCC within 18 months of hire, TNCC Instructor within 2 years of hire, ENPC Instructor within 2 years of hire. Brownwood Educators are not required to be ENPC Instructors.
Operating Room – Registered Nurse, CPR‑BLS Certification, ACLS within 3 months, CNOR within 1 year.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Deal effectively with hospital personnel.
Possess excellent human relations and oral/written communication skills.
Maintain confidential information.
Be familiar with policy and procedures.
Designated Driver.
OSHA Category 1 – High Risk.
