Polymers Laboratory Engineer

Amentum . This is an opportunity to work in a salaried UAW Laboratory as a scientific lab engineer at Ford Central Laboratory. This is an entry level full‑time onsite position where the candidate will work as a resource for chemical related issues in a laboratory environment.
Primary Responsibilities
Operate and maintain a variety of analytical instrumentation and physical testing equipment including, but not limited to optical and digital microscopy, FTIR, TGA, DSC, environmental chambers, ovens, and tensile machines
Prepare and evaluate non‑metallic samples using ASTM and local test methods
Prepare electronic reports with results, photo‑documentation, and conclusions on a timely basis
Perform collaborative testing of polymeric and elastomer testing, in accordance with industry standards
Role has the potential to expand performing basic failure analysis techniques to identify root causes of warranty, durability, and production / launch issues
Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, or Materials Science Engineering
Experience writing technical reports
Demonstrated Ability
Maintain Analytical Instrumentation
Multitask and handle technical issues

Independent personal transportation to office or work site is required
Travel to and from customer’s locations and the test fields may be required to support projects; may involve airline travel
When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion
Must pass a background check, drug screen, and HPE
