Assist with labor and delivery procedures, fetal monitoring, and high-risk obstetric care. Provide care for mothers and newborns, including APGAR scoring, newborn assessments, and baby care support. Monitor and manage fetal heart rate patterns and perform related assessments (NST, OCT, EFM, IUPC placement and calibration). Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered (e.g., antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, analgesia/anesthesia support). Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and management of postpartum recovery. Maintain sterile technique, assist with high-risk deliveries, and participate in postpartum and newborn care activities. Prepare and maintain patient records, coordinate care with the health care team, and ensure patient safety and comfort. Qualifications
Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, FHM, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, AWHONN Beginner, NRP Required Skills: Facility births/month >300; Labor and Delivery; High Risk Antepartum; Assist with sterile speculum exam (effacement, dilation, station, presentation); NST; OCT; reflex checks / edema assessment / clonus; sterile vaginal exam; use of EFM; spiral electrode placement; internal fetal monitoring; use of IUPC (placement and calibration); recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns; administration of blood and blood products; drawing venous blood; starting and maintaining IVs; use of infusion pumps; management of antihypertensives, insulin drips, magnesium sulfate, Pitocin, prostaglandins, terbutaline, amnioinfusion; assist with high-risk delivery; assist with vaginal delivery; circulate for C-section; scrub for C-section; APGAR scoring; Baby Nurse duties; cord care; birth-related newborn care and safety; comprehensive postpartum/postnatal care responsibilities.
