PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE ONLY SEEKING INTERNAL CITY EMPLOYEES FOR THIS POSITION.

The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system includes 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes within a 2,000 square mile watershed extending 125 miles north and west of the City.

The Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction (BEDC) manages a portfolio of capital projects valued at $23.8B, with an additional $10.5B projected over the next 10 years. These projects enable DEP to operate and maintain a top-tier water supply system.

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Division supports, monitors, and ensures BEDC's compliance with Federal, State, and local EHS laws. Its goal is to run the safest, most environmentally compliant capital construction program in the U.S., aiming for zero accidents, zero harm to people, and zero harm to the environment. The EHS team reviews designs, participates in workshops, provides comments on contract requirements, and offers field support from preconstruction to project turnover. They also update their EHS Management System through audits for continuous improvement.

BEDC seeks to hire an Associate Project Manager 2 to serve as an Environmental Specialist within the EHS directorate, located in Valhalla, NY or Kingston, NY. Under the EHS Program Manager, the candidate will provide guidance on environmental laws and regulations, review and revise contract specifications, SOPs, and standards, and ensure project compliance with laws and policies.
