Job Summary The Medical Laboratory Scientist I in the Cytogenetics Laboratory will be responsible for performing a broad range of testing in Cytogenetics Wet Lab and Analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Biology or an ASCP approved discipline.
ASCP Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or Cytogenetics (CG) passed within 12 months of eligibility to test
Preferred Qualifications
BSMT or BSMLS degree in Cytogenetics
Previous clinical laboratory experience.
Previous Cytogenetics experience
ASCP in Cytogenetics CG (ASCP)
General knowledge of clinical laboratory quality control practices.
Job Duties
This will include, but not limited to, processing and evaluating specimens and requisitions, cell culture and harvesting, chromosome analysis, imaging and karyotyping, and reporting.
In addition, the technologist will perform daily, weekly and monthly QC and preventative maintenance in their assigned areas for further review by the supervisor or Medical Director.
This requires one to maintain safe work practices, follow all regulatory requirements and procedures and engage supervisor, manager, director and other department staff as appropriate.
Perform other duties as needed.
