Overview
Physical Therapist - Inpatient - PRN

Cleveland Clinic . This position supports inpatient physical therapy care, providing highly specialized treatment for bones, joints, muscles and tendons to meet the unique needs and health backgrounds of patients. The role includes working in a healing environment and contributing to patient recovery and wellbeing. This is a regular PRN position with weekend shifts; schedules vary between 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. with holiday requirements. The incumbent may be required to float to Avon and Fairview locations as needed.
Responsibilities
Evaluate and conduct prescribed physical therapy treatment programs.
Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
Establish, revise and evaluate plans of care while involving the patient and/or their family.
Perform therapy interventions.
Supervise activities of Physical Therapy Assistants, students and other caregivers.
Minimum qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or certificate
Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT)
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
Preferred qualifications
Experience in a clinical area
Acute care clinical experience
Orthopaedic or total joint experience
Physical requirements
Ability to walk and climb stairs without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling.
Ability to meet physical demands characterized at the heavy level defined by 1993 Leonard Matheson and Ministry of Labor.
Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient’s arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to palpate muscle tension or monitor patient pulse.
Visual acuity to observe patient’s gross and fine motor movements and read patient monitors.
Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families.
Ability to hear at a conversational level to understand patient descriptions of symptoms and response to treatment.

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
