Pharmacy Techs
to join our Clinic and Specialty Center Community Pharmacy team. This position is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shift and every 3rd weekend. $5000 Sign-On Bonus A sign-on bonus is available for eligible external candidates. Current employees and former employees (rehired within 12 months) are not eligible. One year's work commitment required. Purpose of this position:
Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties allowable by law, while maintaining a favorable image of the pharmacy within the hospital and in the community. Responsibilities
Answers phones for the pharmacy department and directs calls to appropriate personnel Maintains knowledge of the Hospital Credit and Collection Policy and related policies Prepackages, prepares, labels, and hands out prescriptions after they are checked by a registered pharmacist Maintains cash registers, credit card machines, and reporting for cash transactions Prepares daily deposits for the cashier's office Bills and credits patient medications Stocks inventory in Pharmacy Routinely checks and removes outdated and expired medications Delivers medications to patient care and ancillary areas and picks up new orders as scheduled Files prescriptions and reports Maintains the pharmacy in a clean and organized fashion Enters outpatient prescriptions Obtains and records patient drug histories Triages orders, determines priorities, processes orders, and notifies the pharmacist as appropriate Performs calculations to determine correct doses using weight Identifies the appropriate product to process based on the prescription order Triages insurance rejections and initiates prior authorization claims as needed Uses appropriate pharmaceutical-medical terms, abbreviations, and symbols Maintains knowledge of general chemical and physical properties of drugs Compounding medications as per Minnesota Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations Responsible for safe and careful handling of chemotherapeutic medications Assists with other duties as assigned after appropriate training Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED Preferred Qualifications: Computer skills Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems Insurance and billing experience Experience with specialty medications in a health system setting Graduate of an accredited Pharmacy Technician Program or a 240-hour employer-based Technician training program or 1,000 hours of Pharmacy experience Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: Ability to communicate with other employees and the public Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, and positive environment promotion Excellent customer service skills Good decision making, problem solving, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks Computer proficiency and ability to use related programs Ability to understand oral and written instructions Ability to learn and apply pharmacy procedures and interpret prescriptions Ability to perform basic math Some skill in record keeping Ability to use computers effectively License/Certifications:
Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with MN State Board PTCB or ExCPT certification within 1 year of date of hire, paid by employee Or Current Intern License with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy Additional
