Staff RN Cardiac Care
to coordinate professional nursing and individualized, family centered care to pediatric patients/families through the nursing process and clinical skills in accordance with standards and hospital policies and procedures. Obtains skills necessary to care for cardiac patients regardless of acuity and age. Works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to provide care excellence to patients and families of the cardiac population. Essential Functions
Conducts individualized age-specific patient/family assessments according to unit scope and nursing practice standards, appropriate collaborative problems, nursing diagnoses, or protocols. Admission Assessment: collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care; demonstrates age-specific competency in assessment of patients; assesses patient/family need for education; assesses family expectations for involvement in care; identifies nursing diagnoses and care plans at admission. Shift Assessment/Reassessment: performs reassessment based on unit standards and changes in patient condition; develops individualized plan of care; utilizes assessment data to set goals and actions; prioritizes interventions; delegates to CNAs as appropriate; coordinates with the interdisciplinary team. Documentation and care planning: documents assessment, plan of care, and patient response; ensures timely electronic medical record entries; maintains patient safety and discharge planning considerations. Provide or coordinate patient/family education based on identified needs; ensure readiness to learn; participate in transplant program function if required by departmental/organizational need. Secondary Functions: accepts assignments to float, mentor student nurse observation, precept new staff, and support unit teamwork as needed. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: perform varied duties under pressure, with prioritization and composure. Education, Experience and Certifications
Diploma, Associates, or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school. Minimum 1 year RN experience; pediatric experience preferred; EPIC experience preferred. Current Nebraska RN license or RN Compact license; BLS required; ACLS and PALS within 6 months of hire; Pediatric or Critical Care certification preferred. About Us
