Position Summary Department: MUSL Ambulatory PRN

Job Duties: This is a PRN position. The Orthopedic Technician provides professional and competent assistance to physicians in the clinic, assisting with the application and management of casts, splints, and braces with Residents, and instructing patients on proper care.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED, plus one year of direct patient care experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Medical Assistant or Orthopedic Tech experience

BLS required. Must obtain within 90 days of hire date and maintain certification

Responsibilities

Provide professional assistance to physicians with application and management of casts for orthopedic patients.

Educate patients regarding casts, splints, or braces following application.

Collect and record patients' medical history, acquire vital signs, and advise patients on treatment, medication, and physician instructions.

Collect lab samples and submit documentation to the lab.

Monitor inventory and obtain necessary supplies or equipment for patient care in the orthopedic unit.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Information Commensurate with education and experience
