Position Description Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Akron, Ohio.

Compensation & Benefits

Hourly Pay: $32.78 per hour.

Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE Certification obtained, up to $700.

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter.

Sign On Bonus: $3,500 at 30 days and $3,500 at 90 days.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, weekends OFF.

Hours: Second Shift 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Vocational or Technical Certification Post‑Secondary degree or Technical Certifications preferred.

Basic tools required.

Demonstrated experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tire work); diagnostics and repairs (AC, electrical); advanced repairs such as major engine, diesel after‑treatment, automotive fuel injection.

Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.

Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.

All other certifications as required by location required.

Additional Requirements

Ability to perform all T3 tasks.

Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance.

Effective interpersonal communication skills.

Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse).

Able to lift up to 50 pounds.

Available for shift work, weekends, and on‑call duty as required.

Prefer ASE Certification in PM, Brakes, A/C, electrical, Electronics or ASE Master Mechanic.

Operate shop computers and diagnostic test equipment proficiently.

Minimum tool requirement.

Road test vehicles as necessary.

Coaching/mentoring influence of others.

Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.

Pass Ryder Drug Test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, background check.

Responsibilities

Credentialed to SBTIII within 180 days (SBT220).

Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses (within 365 days).

Complete instructor‑led OEM courses as required.

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties: standard maintenance, preventive work, and complex repairs with minimal support.

Access and use internal and external maintenance documents.

Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers/software.

Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine solutions for roadside breakdowns.

Perform facility maintenance duties.

Interact with customers/drivers to address complaints.

Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.

Coach and mentor other technicians.

Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs.

Use key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation.

Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).

Other support duties as required.
