Mechanical CAD Design Engineer – Shipboard Effectors Department
Location: AZ807: RMS AP Bldg 807, 1151 East Hermans Road Building 807, Tucson, AZ 85756 USA. Position Type: Onsite.
Security Clearance: Secret (U.S. citizenship required; prior background check necessary).
What You Will Do
Design major components or portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and specific products using computer design and engineering systems.
Develop or improve products, test equipment, or manufacturing processes; create parametric models, layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals.
Investigate design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials, interchangeability, replaceability, strength‑weight efficiency, contractual specification requirements, and cost.
Design, develop, and test metallic or non‑metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.
Resolve routine problems of varying scope and complexity using established policies and procedures with minimal direction or supervision.
Qualifications You Must Have
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent combination of education and 2+ years of experience).
At least 2 years of experience with CREO Parametric (Pro/Engineer) solid modeling CAD software or similar (SolidWorks, CATIA, Inventor).
U.S. citizenship required; ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Understanding of basic engineering design documentation principles.
Experience preparing/altering drawings/models and creating new 3D models with general direction.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and simple tolerance analysis.
Application of MIL‑STD‑31000, Y14.5M, ASME Y14.24, and ASME Y14.100.
Knowledge of mechanical fabrication processes and techniques.

Competitive salary range: $66,000 – $130,000.
