Overview
Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Richland, WA. Location: US-WA-Richland Job ID: 2025-11325 This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). Essential Functions And Job Responsibilities
Support the 222-S Complex with mechanical engineering and other duties as assigned with minimal supervision. Incorporate advanced engineering practices for ventilation, vacuum, and compressed air systems including, but not limited to design, drafting, developing and approving work packages and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), conducting field walk downs, developing specifications, performing and/or reviewing calculations, testing, troubleshooting, design/procedural reviews, and assisting in the planning and execution of field work. Perform engineering work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering or project tasks. Demonstrate high level of problem-solving and exercise of judgment as required on advanced level work details and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Develop mechanical equipment preventative and corrective maintenance plans and oversee their implementation. Perform regular equipment operational analysis to check for abnormal conditions and provide recommendations for repair or replacement. Demonstrate significant technical expertise to serve as a consultant to senior management in their assigned engineering discipline, including incorporating advanced practices and complex features such as ventilation systems, compressed air systems, vacuum pump systems, and other design engineering documents as assigned. Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise. Prepare technical reports, review designs, plans, and shop drawings. Perform mechanical analysis using MathCad, AutoCAD, Smart Plant, and other software. Apply working knowledge of ANSI, ASME, ASHRAE, and other mechanical codes, manuals, and standards to facility design, maintenance, and operation. May assume staff leadership responsibilities or administrative duties as assigned by supervision. Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistics, financial, and program management disciplines to define system specifications and requirements. Demonstrate high level of interpolative thinking and mature engineering judgment. Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields to resolve complex problems. Implement and manage Preventative Maintenance (PM) for assigned systems. Support the team planning process to develop work instruction to safely implement design changes within the 222-S Complex. Oversee field modifications and acceptance testing and perform field work complete walk downs. Evaluate system design, operating philosophy, and maintenance and make engineering recommendations to ensure system operability, efficiency, and longevity. Assist manager to close iCAS adverse conditions and/or implement opportunities for improvement and other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements
BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline and minimum 12 years of directly related experience. Seniority level
