Position Summary
The Academic Media Technician II provides technical support for audio‑visual (AV) and computer systems at Connecticut State Community College. The role includes installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and documentation of AV equipment, software, and media systems for academic laboratories, classrooms, and events. Responsibilities
Monitor ongoing operation of media systems and perform hardware and software maintenance Install, configure, adapt, and test AV hardware and software, including Crestron, Extron, and video media software Provide end‑user training on AV technology and equipment Document troubleshooting steps and solutions in a user‑friendly format Log, monitor, and resolve technical incidents using ServiceNow or an equivalent ticketing system Assist in planning, designing, and leading IT and AV support for college events Maintain AV equipment in classroom and event spaces, including projectors, computers, and other media devices Perform basic network connectivity tests, both wired and wireless Escalate calls to the appropriate resource when necessary Research and recommend new hardware, software, and management tools to enhance service quality Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a technology‑related field One (1) or more years of experience administering and supporting AV systems in higher education Advanced knowledge of computer hardware, software, and AV media equipment assembly and installation Experience working with AV control systems (Crestron, Extron), video media software, touch panel control systems, sound systems, and AV switchers Working knowledge of supported operating systems Experience in a higher education help desk setting Excellent customer service skills, including effective written and verbal communication Knowledge of wireless internet and network connectivity Basic fluency in Microsoft Office products and Adobe products Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) Preferred Qualifications
Experience working classroom audio‑visual systems Experience with Extron system Benefits
Minimum salary range: $63,585 to $67,844 (annual, plus State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits).
