Lead Civil Engineer — Energy & Industrial Group at Sargent & Lundy. This role focuses on civil engineering for power plant, substations, transmission lines, and related heavy industrial systems within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities
Utilize and expand civil engineering skills in a multi-disciplined team environment for design, modification, and analysis of power plant and heavy industrial systems. Work on a wide range of power plant projects and perform civil site development work including calculations, designs, and specifications. Coordinate with project managers, client personnel, contractors, suppliers, and permitting agencies to ensure a complete and timely design. Guide other civil engineers and civil designers as needed based on scope and complexity of the design. Prepare calculations related to storm water drainage, sanitary sewer systems, pavement thickness, ponds and landfills, and earthwork to support design and permitting. Prepare technical specifications to define construction requirements. Prepare site layout, grading, and drainage designs; work with designers to portray designs in 3-D models and design drawings. Design storm drainage systems, roads, trackwork, water storage and wastewater disposal ponds, and solid waste landfills. Review contractor and material submittal drawings and other vendor documentation for conformity with technical specifications. Travel to client offices for design reviews and to plant site locations for construction coordination and field verification of designs (as needed). Qualifications
B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Professional Engineer (PE) license required; preferably in Florida but other states acceptable. Ten or more years of experience in a project team environment designing heavy industrial projects; power plant experience preferred; strong background in site grading and mass earthwork, storm water management, sanitary sewer systems, process wastewater systems, and road/rail track design. Experience in technical writing for reports, calculations, and specifications. Experience in preparing, submitting, and obtaining site-related design and environmental permits from various regulatory agencies. Proficiency with AutoDesk Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, AutoTurn, and MS Office. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work in a team environment. Based in Tampa, FL with occasional travel. Valued but Not Required
Experience with coal combustion residuals management and disposal. Benefits
