Overview The Pipelayer will be responsible for laying and repairing water, storm-water, and sewer pipelines while ensuring that all tasks are performed safely and efficiently. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow instructions, and a strong commitment to safety.
Key Responsibilities
Set proper grades and elevations, including flowline, grade stick, and string line.
Check slopes for conformance to grading elevations using levels or lasers.
Connect bell and spigot, sewer, and water pipelines.
Cover pipes with aggregate and native material and compact as necessary.
Hand dig bell holes to verify existing utility locations.
Grade and level trench bases using tamping machines and hand tools.
Install and repair water, storm-water, and sewer structures and pipe systems within trench shoring shields.
Lay out pipe routes following written instructions or blueprints and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed to prevent unsafe actions, processes, and behaviors.
Take direction from the Foreman and provide support to peers.
Work safely while adhering to Rangeline requirements and OSHA regulations.
Maintain dependability and responsibility to be at work on time.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Advanced understanding of construction procedures, equipment, and best practices.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction documents.
Strong organizational and time-management capabilities.
Effective problem-solving skills to address routine issues.
Comprehensive knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines.
Demonstrated leadership and warm managerial style.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred
Two (2) years of heavy civil construction experience preferred
Must be able to travel if needed
A valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements
Heavy physical activity performing strenuous day activities of a primarily productive/technical nature.
Must be able to physically lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
Must be able to climb on, off, and under various pieces of equipment, and physically access all parts of equipment to perform job requirements.
Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers. Ability to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
