Plant Maintenance Mechanic — Packaging & Processing

Your Impact
Perform PMs and corrective repairs on conveyors, motors, pumps, pneumatic components, and production machinery.
Assist with electrical work: swap out switches and sensors; replace and commission VFDs.
Troubleshoot by watching, listening, and testing with basic diagnostic tools.
Dismantle, rebuild, and align equipment using hand/power tools; support changeovers, setups, and small fabrications.
Provide facilities support: plumbing and carpentry tasks, HVAC filter changes, general building upkeep.
Help with weather-related duties (snow removal, salting, roof checks) and outdoor grounds work.
Maintain shop organization and cleanliness; return tools to designated locations.
Track spare parts and supplies; identify shortages and reorder needs.
Accurately log work in the CMMS/work order system; communicate equipment condition and improvement ideas.
Safety, Food Safety & Quality
Adhere to all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
Champion GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and CCP monitoring.
Ensure equipment performance meets food safety and product quality requirements; report and help correct risks.
Must-Haves
Solid mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.
Basic electrical knowledge (low voltage, sensors, relays, VFDs).
Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and basic blueprints.
Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring devices.
Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and teamwork/independent work balance.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
2–4 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or similar.
Experience with packaging or food processing equipment preferred.
CMMS exposure is a plus.
Role is the intermediate tier between Jr. Mechanic and Electro-Mechanic.
Physical Demands & Environment
Bending, stretching, kneeling, and squatting as part of daily work.
Climb ladders and work in elevated areas safely.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Work in noisy, cold, hot, and wet conditions.
