HVAC R Technician
Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District, Shaker Heights, Ohio, United States
Under general supervision, performs skilled mechanical maintenance duties in the inspection, repair, installation, and alteration of District heating, boilers, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVACR) systems and related equipment and facilities. Understands equipment operation and control systems for troubleshooting. Completes preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conducts preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, heating and ventilating units, boilers, and air conditioning equipment; makes adjustments or repairs as needed.
Inspects, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, and installs HVACR systems and equipment, including compressors, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, pumps, valves, and related components.
Performs electrical maintenance up to 600 volts, including repair, installation, and wiring of HVACR equipment.
Tests and examines boiler operations, performs water quality tests, and conducts treatments.
Lubricates motors, pumps, fans, and other equipment.
Assists contractors with calibration of laboratory fume hoods and equipment.
Maintains detailed records, meets schedules, and assists with report generation.
Supports Building Maintenance Persons with various tasks in district buildings and grounds.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; further education in electrical, pneumatic, hydronic, HVACR fields preferred.
Five (5) years of skilled experience in HVACR installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance; BAS experience preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver's license; acceptable driving record.
EPA Section 608 certification within 90 days.
Preferred Ohio Low/High Pressure Boiler or Stationary Engineer license.
Knowledge of HVACR practices, codes, safety precautions, and operation of related equipment.
Ability to calibrate systems, perform routine maintenance, diagnose defects, and operate tools and machinery.
Strong communication skills and ability to work cooperatively.
Ability to respond to emergency and fill-in shifts.
Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs., working in various environmental conditions, and accessing elevated locations with safety equipment.
