Overview
Bureau Veritas is a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services. This position is for a licensed Electrical Plans Examiner and Inspector with CAP Government, Inc. in Homestead, Florida. Some travel may be required for inspections and/or managing projects in the assigned area. The role involves interpreting and applying regulations to plan review and construction inspection, communicating with owners, applicants, contractors, and municipal staff, and ensuring code compliance.
Responsibilities Demonstrates excellent communication and customer service skills; tailors oral communication to the audience.
Relays technical information and direction to owners, applicants, contractors, municipal clients and staff.
Responds to inquiries regarding compliance with electrical codes and enforces procedures to correct violations under the direction of the client jurisdiction.
Collaborates as a team member to resolve issues or conflicts in a timely manner.
Interacts with client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, and contractors regarding code compliance for proposed or existing projects.
Coordinates with multiple client jurisdictions and inspection staff to identify issues and resolve conflicts for timely city decisions.
Prepares written work products such as correction notices or other correspondence outlining necessary corrections for code compliance.
Occasionally performs technical inspections and plan reviews for residential and commercial structures and systems to ensure code conformance.
Participates in discussions on code interpretations; attends training to improve technical and interpersonal skills.
Responds to inquiries from client jurisdictions, developers, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding interpretations of codes, regulations, and processes.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with city clients, staff, builders, designers, and the public.
Analyses complex issues and makes timely decisions; may review residential and commercial plans for conformance with applicable codes.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Manager.
Education / Experience State of Florida Professional Engineer (PE) in electrical; or
State of Florida Plan Review License (PX) in electrical; or
State of Florida Inspector License (BN) in electrical; or
ICC Residential & Commercial Plans Examiner and/or Inspection certification in electrical; or
Possession of the Journeyman Electrician Certificate and four years of experience as a journeyman electrician
Requirements Knowledge of the Florida Building Code and other regulations pertaining to construction and development.
Ability to understand and interpret codes and evaluate proposals to verify conformance with code requirements.
Plans examiner certification from Miami Dade or Broward County BORA is a plus.
