Job Description
Job Summary:
Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc. (TBE) in Knoxville, TN is seeking a mid-senior mechanical engineer experienced in developing mechanical and controls systems. The TBE Knoxville facility specializes in developing the next-generation systems for use in nuclear explosion monitoring networks, such as the International Monitoring System (IMS) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO).
Essential Duties And Responsibilities May Include The Following:
Creating fabrication and assembly drawings in accordance with ASME Y14 standards
Tolerancing and design for manufacturability
Interpreting electrical schematics for troubleshooting and design purposes
Developing proposals, test reports, customer presentations, and design specifications
Interfacing with technicians to ensure specifications are attainable and verifying compliance
Interfacing with customers in technical working groups
Estimating labor hours, tracking actuals, and coordinating scheduling with other project managers
Troubleshooting complex systems from sensor data and log files
Creating bills of materials for new designs and tracking materials during fabrication
Other duties may be assigned
Responsibilities
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities but may include providing technical leadership to lower-level Engineers.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Previous professional experience with systems such as high purity compressed air, cryogenic cooling, high vacuum, nuclear detectors, and industrial controls is preferred.
Other Qualifications:
US Citizenship with the ability to attain/maintain a government security clearance
Ability to travel domestically/internationally approximately +/-10%

This position offers full benefits including medical, dental, 401k matching, and paid leave. It is a 100% on-site role with a work schedule of 9 hours Monday through Thursday and a 4-hour Friday.
