Mechanical Engineer (Stowage/Mounting)

Pay/Duration: $50.00 - $62.00 per hour, 12‑month contract to hire
Position Overview This position is for a mechanical engineer to design, develop and release LRU mounting, shock and vibration attenuation mounting, radio racks, brush guards, and all aspects of stowage on military ground vehicles. Depending on workload demands, this person may also work in other areas such as fuel systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automatic fire suppression systems, driver controls, lighting, crew seating, and other mechanical subsystems.
Responsibilities
Design and integrate shock/vibration LRU mounts, complete stowage packaging, and other mechanical elements into military vehicles.
Apply mechanics of materials, material selection, welding, and fabrication principles for mechanical components and complex welded brackets, mounting provisions.
Decompose vehicle performance requirements to perform system analysis and select appropriate components such as sensors, cables, handles, springs, pedals, and mechanisms; conduct detailed design of fluid system custom components.
Write test plans and perform testing and evaluation of systems.
Direct and oversee CAD model and drawing development.
Conduct failure analysis and corrective action; responsible for technical writing and presentations.
