Construction Manager – Mechanical, Piping, Civil & E&I (EPC Projects) Location:

Terre Haute, IN Type:

Full-Time We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong background in mechanical and piping works to manage and oversee an EPC contractor during the execution of a major industrial project. While mechanical and piping remain the primary focus, the Construction Manager will also coordinate civil construction and electrical & instrumentation (E&I) activities, supported by discipline engineers. The Construction Manager ensures that the EPC contractor delivers on safety, quality, schedule, and cost, while effectively managing progress and tracking action items. Key Responsibilities

EPC Contractor Management & Oversight

Lead and coordinate the EPC contractor’s construction activities across mechanical, piping, civil, and E&I disciplines. Review and validate construction schedules, manpower forecasts, and resource planning. Ensure the EPC contractor complies with contractual obligations, project specifications, and technical standards. Track progress, open items, and punch lists, ensuring timely closure and accountability.

Mechanical & Piping

Oversee equipment installation, piping fabrication, welding, erection, testing, and commissioning interfaces. Ensure compliance with international codes (ASME, API, EN, ISO, ASTM, etc.) and approved ITPs. Review and approve contractor’s method statements, work packs, and QA/QC documentation.

Civil & Structural

Supervise major civil works (foundations, concrete, structural steel erection). Verify quality, dimensional control, and adherence to drawings/specifications. Coordinate with civil engineers for inspections, quality audits, and handovers.

Electrical & Instrumentation

Support monitoring of E&I installation (cabling, trays, MCCs, instrumentation, control systems). Coordinate testing, loop checks, and interface with commissioning. Work closely with E&I engineers to resolve technical and schedule issues.

Safety, Quality & Risk Management

Enforce strict compliance with HSE policies and safe work practices. Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and audits with EPC contractor. Ensure robust quality control: inspections, welding/NDT records, material traceability, and punch list closure. Proactively manage risks, delays, and non-conformities with mitigation actions.

Stakeholder & Reporting

Act as primary site interface between Owner, EPC contractor, and subcontractors. Chair daily/weekly site coordination meetings and ensure effective action tracking. Provide progress, quality, and risk reports to the Project Director/Project Manager. Support smooth transition into pre-commissioning and commissioning phases.

What You’ll Bring

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering (Mechanical ). Experience:

Minimum 10+ years of construction management experience on large industrial projects (oil & gas, chemical, power, or similar). Proven expertise in mechanical and piping construction management. Working knowledge of civil and E&I construction activities. Strong background in managing EPC contractors and multi-disciplinary teams.

Familiarity with international construction and safety standards. Experience in large-scale industrial plant construction and commissioning interface. Leadership with ability to manage and coordinate multiple disciplines. Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management.
